Cider Dinner at Back Forty West
One of the most unique and anticipated events that Back Forty held was their Cider Dinner.
In the restaurant's own words:
Back Forty and Back Forty West are excited to welcome Rowan Jacobsen, James Beard winning author, for a full-on cider and apple dinner at Prince St. on Monday October 27th and a walk-around cider tasting on Ave. B on Saturday Oct 25th, both celebrating rare apples of the northeast and the exciting ciders produced in the region. Rowan has written the just published Apples of Uncommon Character, a visually lush and fact filled book as well as numerous terrific, informative (yet never pedantic) food books including A Geography of Oysters and American Terroir.
This dinner will showcase many of the best ciders, still and sparkling, and a complementary menu from Chef Peter Phillips highlighting cider friendly foods and celebrating some of the rarities Rowan has collected for us. Four courses plus a comparative tasting of Rowan’s favorite heirloom varieties with paired ciders $85. See the menu below.
You know what they say about heirloom foods? You’ve got to eat them to keep them alive. Come join us for what promises to be a special and delicious meal.
The cost of a cider dinner ticket is $85.00. With the addition of sales tax, 20% gratuity, and processing fee, the final cost is $113.50. The ticket include food and paired ciders. Rowan’s new book, Apples of Uncommon Character, is also available for purchase below. Save $10.00 by purchasing an advance copy AND get Rowan to sign it for you at the dinner.
